Perception towards tobacco consumption and its usage among auto rickshaw drivers of Udupi District, Karnataka, India: A cross- sectional study

BackgroundTobacco usage has become a major public health problem. It is leading cause of preventable disease and death. The hazard related to tobacco consumption also increasing. Therefore, the present study aimed assess perception towards pattern products among auto-rickshaw drivers.MethodsA cross-sectional was conducted from November 2019 August 2020 161 drivers Udupi Taluk, Karnataka using purposive sampling technique. A pretested, valid reliable self-administered questionnaires were used collect data on consumption. Data analysed SPSS version 16.ResultsA total 99 (62%) users smoking 38 (24%) smokeless users. majority 118 (73%) daily 83 (52%) did not use any in work area. Nearly 52 (32%) participants consumed due pressure. Around 91 (57%) interested quit products. Mean score 139.81 ± 11.45 shows that them perceive as hazardous for health.ConclusionDifferent forms despite knowing effect health. Intervention programs control should be planned by care professionals strict enforcement policy critical address tobacco-related morbidity mortality.
